Let Your Light So Shine

…Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven (Mathew 5:14, 16).

In our theme scripture, the Master unveils an important success principle; He tells us something about promotion and recognition, and how they come. He said let your light so shine, before men-all-men-that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Notice He didn’t say ‘’Let your voice be so loud’’; neither did he say ‘’Let your light so shine before the boss, the king or the leaders.’’ Rather, He says, ‘’Let your light so shine before men’’; that’s your mandate! You’re to shine anywhere and everywhere; in your family, school, neighborhood, place of work, state, country-everywhere! You’re to win and make progress always, no matter the circumstances of life.

Joseph the son of Jacob, is a notable example in the regard. He was sold into slavery by his brothers, and was later put in prison, after being wrongly accused. Yet, he shone so brightly in the midst not all those difficult times and eventually rose to become the prime minister in a foreign country.

Follow the very simple but instructive principles of Jesus on success, one of which is letting your light so shine before men. The inevitable result is that through you, the lives of others will be affected and improved such that it’ll be difficult for your impact to be unnoticed or unrewarded. Note, however, that the scripture doesn’t say men will see your good works and promote or reward you. It says instead that they’ll glorify your Father who’s in heaven who in turn will promote you. Your promotion comes from the Lord (Psalm 75:6). Yours is to do what’s right and not be a man pleaser; and it won’t be long before you’re catapulted to higher dimensions of greatness and prosperity.

Prayer

Dear Father, I give you praise and glory for making me a light to my world. I serve you with my life and express my significance in the world to the praise and glory of your majesty, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
