Pastor Chris
A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit (Proverbs 15:4).
Proverbs 4:20-22 shows us the benefits of giving the Word of God unparalleled attention in our lives; it says: ‘’My son, attend to my words…For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.’’ ‘’Wholesome,’’ as used in our opening verse is translated from the Hebrew word ‘’marpe,’’ which means healing. It’s the same word translated ‘’health’’ in Proverbs 4:22. Therefore, a wholesome or ‘’marpe’’ tongue is a tongue that’s curative; a tongue can only be curative or medicinal when it’s filled with the Word of God!
Remember, we read in Proverbs 4:22 that the Word is health (medicine) to the flesh or human body. So the tongue that speaks God’s Word; the wholesome tongue, speaks health, nutrition, nourishment and life to the body. You’d also notice that our opening scripture says ‘’…perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.’’ Perverseness means crookedness; it refers to inconsistent and contradictory choice of words. It’s called ‘’contrariness’’ in the tongue, and it causes destruction or deformity in the spirit.
Many unknowingly bruise or deform their spirits through perverse talking when their words are not consistent with the provisions of the Gospel. When one’s spirit is so bruised due to negative proclamations, soon enough, it will manifest on the physical body. The bruises or sicknesses many experience in their physical bodies started in their spirit.
This is why as a child of God, you must consciously cultivate a wholesome tongue; learn to speak forth the Word of God with boldness. Part of the ministry of the Holy Spirit in your life is to sanctify your words so you’ll have a ‘’marpe’’ or wholesome tongue; a healing tongue! Allow this ministry in full manifestation in your life; speak forth the blessed Word of God, and use the Word to determine your health, future, prosperity and protection.
Confession
My life is for the glory of God, and I’m walking in righteousness, victory, prosperity, health, success and greatness. The Word of God has produced life in me; I’m a testimony of the grace and glory of God as a result of the impact of the Word in my life. Hallelujah!
